Experienced health and care leader Anthony McKeever has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer designate for the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board.
The Health Bill currently going through Parliament will see the creation of a statutory Integrated Care Board (ICB) for mid and south Essex, along with 41 other similar organisations across England, if it becomes law.
The Bill recently passed its Second Reading in the House of Commons, and the designate Chief Executive Officer appointment has taken place now in order for the NHS locally to prepare for the proposed changes.
Mr McKeever was appointed to the role after a robust recruitment and assessment process led by NHS England and NHS Improvement. The process included stakeholder panels featuring members from partner organisations, staff, and local community representatives.
The announcement today (16 November 2021) follows the appointment in September of Professor Michael Thorne CBE as the Chair designate for the Integrated Care Board.
Professor Thorne said: “I am delighted we have secured Anthony’s leadership for our system. His experience and knowledge supported us to confront the unique challenges of the pandemic and strengthen our collaboration with colleagues across mid and south Essex over the past 18 months. His commitment to improving things for the benefit of the population we serve shines through in everything he does.”
Anthony McKeever said: “I was committed to genuinely making a difference from the moment I arrived in mid and south Essex as I could see the enormous potential our system has when we work together. I am grateful this appointment enables me to continue to work with some of the most inspiring people - all determined to improve how we deliver the very best health and care provision for and with our local communities.”
