October 2020 Update on Community Wards and Admissions Criteria
To ensure that we are able to safely meet the needs of our patients during the potential second wave of COVID-19 and the winter pressure, Provide have continued providing the stroke and IMC services within our community wards.
As a result of these changes, we are now accepting step-down admissions at Halstead ward, and the stroke at patients at St Peter’s ward, from across south and mid Essex.
Please download the stakeholder update and revised admission criteria for both stroke and IMC step-down below.
Previous May 2020 Update
Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, community providers (Provide, NELFT and EPUT) and partners have been working together to consolidate community beds in mid and south Essex, in order to cope with the expected demand to treat more patients.
The Community Bed Bureau website provides ‘live’ and up to date information to help inform decision making when a patient has to be referred to a community hospital:
- Ward names and region/location
- Ward type and specialism
- Total beds in ward / occupied / reserved / available / queueing
In the near future it will also integrate with some social care and hospice beds.
